Testimonial (local news)

Local reporter Mike Mansell visited us in September 2009. He was interested in finding out about the processes we had been through, and the reasons why we decided  to set up our tourism business.  He wrote an article explaining his findings and it was published later on that month in our local newspaper, The Whangarei Report.

Accommodation

Our block is 80 acres on the north-eastern slopes of the Mount Manaia range.  Your accommodation is a brand new, purpose built lodge, near the entrance to our property.  We take up to twelve walkers at a time.

Equipment

Being well prepared and having the right equipment can make a big difference to how much you enjoy a walking holiday. You will be spending time outdoors so it is important to be prepared for the strong Northland sun as well as rain. Many experienced walkers have their check-list when packing for a trip, but as a general guide here's our suggestion of what to bring.

Food

Our aim is to provide you with fresh, local, seasonal food.

Your first evening meal will be in the lodge when you arrive, requiring only a minimum of input from you – perhaps heating something in the oven or cooking something on the barbecue. 

Our menu will vary with the seasons, the market, our, and our friends’ vegetable gardens, and what our fishermen can catch.
